RETURN OF THE EGGMAN

BACKGROUND INFORMATION: This is my first Sonic fanfiction story. It is mostly based on the Archie Comics storyline, but I also included characters from the Japanese Sonic the Hedgehog Anime like the President, Sera, and Ojisan. Also in this story I use the names Eggman and Robotnik together. If you don't like this story please remember that I am only 14 years old, and I am not a professional writer.

Sonic the Hedgehog was running. Faster than the speed of sound, as usual. Why was he running? Nobody knew, not even Sonic. Doctor Ivo Eggman Robotnik has been gone for a long time now. The hedgehog defeated him. Is Robotnik dead? Or is he still around, somewhere?! Sonic ran back and forth from Mobotropolis to Knothole Village at least 25 times. Finally when Sonic approached Mobotropolis again, Princess Sally came out of nowhere and stood in the middle of Sonic's path.

"SONIC STOP!" Sally yelled.

Sonic (still two miles away from Sally) barely saw the Princess and he dug his right heel in the ground and stopped one foot away from Sally almost running her over. "Hey Sal," Sonic said sadly.

"Sonic, what's wrong?" asked Princess Sally.

"I dunno. I can't really explain it, but I'm kind of bummed out now that ol' Eggman is gone."

"But Sonic, guys like Ixis Naugus and Mammoth Mogul have still been giving you trouble."

"I know, but those guys are kind of lame and Ixis Naugus hasn't seemed to be causing much trouble lately."

"Well Sonic, maybe you should take up a hobby?"

"A HOBBY?! And become an average Joe Blow? Not this hedgehog!"

Just then Rotor called Sally to ask her for a little help on the repairs of the castle. But missing Robotnik wasn't the only thing bothering Sonic. Sonic could sense that Princess Sally was liking Sonic less and maybe they were drifting apart.

Later that day, Sonic went to the apartment building in Mobotropolis where he and some of the Freedom Fighters and many other citizens of Mobotropolis had a little apartment. Sonic's apartment was number 17D. Sonic cooked some microwave chili dogs and watched television. There was nothing good on, and Sonic hated watching TV, but he was bored out of his mind. After ten minutes of TV and chili dogs (which was a long time for Sonic) Sonic went down to the apartment of Miles "Tails" Prower. Sonic knocked on the door of apartment number 8G and Tails opened the door.

"Hey Sonic!" Tails was very excited to see Sonic because Sonic the Hedgehog was not only his role model, but his best friend in the whole universe.

"Hey big guy, what you up to?" Sonic asked.

"Nothing much," Tails responded, "I was just playing video games."

"Are you bored?" Sonic asked.

"No, not really, well yes," Tails answered.

"Hey Tails, why don't we get the bi-plane and see what's up on South Island, where we used to hang out before the Freedom Fighters needed our help around knothole full time."

"Really Sonic? Okay!" Said Tails. "But will Princess Sally let us?"

"I dunno, actually I don't really care right now." said Sonic.

Then Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails the Two-Tailed Fox ran down to the parking lot where sat the bi-plane, recently named the "Winged Victory." Tails flew the plane (as usual), and Sonic stood on the upper wing (kids, don't try this at home). They took off and headed towards South Island.

When Sonic and Tails arrived on South Island they were greeted by Ojisan the Owl.

"Hi Sonic, hi Tails," said Ojisan, looking in the other direction.

"What's up, Ojisan?" asked Sonic.

"I heard you've defeated Dr. Eggman. Great job. Things have been kind of boring around here until two days ago when a bunch of robots appeared out of nowhere. I know they're up to something but I'm afraid to go near them."

"ROBOTS!" Sonic and Tails screamed together.

At that moment the President and his daughter, Sera landed their plane a quarter of a mile away from Sonic, Tails, and Ojisan. "Sonic, Tails, I'm so glad you're here!" The President exclaimed. "Thousands of robots are building something in the woods over there. We need you to go investigate."

"Sonic, Tails, I'm so happy to see you," said Sera. "Can you please go take care of those mean ol' scary robots!"

"Sure thing," Sonic replied. Sonic sped off towards the woods where the robots were, and Tails used his two tails like a helicopter and flew behind him.

"GOOD LUCK!" Ojisan waved goodbye to them still looking in the wrong direction.

Sonic and Tails approached the robots. They looked like robotisized rabbits, squirrels, and other animals. They were constructing something still unidentifiable.

"What are they doing?" Tails asked.

"I've no clue, big guy!" Sonic responded. "Robuttnik must be behind this."

"But I thought you killed him!"

"You can never tell with big, fat Eggmen!"

Tails laughed.

One of the robots turned around and saw the two Freedom Fighters. "INTRUDERS."

Ten of the other robots fired lasers at Sonic and Tails. The robots weren't a great shot and Sonic and Tails easily dodged the lasers. Then Sonic and Tails approached a pink, yellow, and blue puddle in the ground.

"What the heck is that?!" Tails asked.

"I don't know," Sonic replied. "I've never seen anything like it, but there's only one way to find out. Come on Tails, let's go!"

Sonic held his breath and jumped into the puddle, and Tails quickly followed him after being shot at by a robot.

Sonic and Tails fell into a big place with a pink sky, blue ground, and yellow rivers. There were flying fish and walking trees. Sonic and Tails were confused.

"Sonic, Tails, welcome to the Zone of Confusion," said a round man.

"Doctor Ivo Eggman Robotnik, I thought you were dead!" Sonic shouted.

"That just proves how stupid you are," said Eggman. "Especially since you've fallen into my trap. Ha ha ha!"

"What the hell are you talking about?!"

"Since you and my stupid nephew, Snively, have accidentally sent me to this damn zone, I've used some scrap metal to build some robots. I've ordered them to build a tunnel that might lead back to Mobius. I have been very fortunate for the tunnel leads to South Island. I've commanded the robots to capture some animals so I can put them in my new, made from scratch, Robotisizer. Now that I have a whole team of robots, I've ordered them to build me a fortress on South Island. In my spare time I've made a small, cramped, dirty, little prison cell just in case someone like you would happen to find me." Eggman told them the whole story and then commanded, "Robots 3 and 56, take Sonic and Tails to the prison cell!"

"AS YOU ORDERD, OH ROUND MASTER." Robot 3 carried Sonic and Robot 56 carried Tails.

"How typical of Robotnik to program his robots as suck-ups," Sonic said as he was thrown into the cell.

"I'll be torturing you later, Sonic and Tails, but right now I have a phone call to make." Eggman dialed for Robot 75 on his cellular phone. "75, how is the construction going?"

"NOT SO GOOD," answered Robot 75. "A RED ECHIDNA HAS ENTERED THE CONSTRUCTION SITE AND DESTROYED ROBOTS 1, 8, 15, 18, 20, 21, 22, 25, 34, 39, 42, 64, 69, AND 72."

"Crap!" Exclaimed Eggman. "Throw him in the prison."

"AS YOU ORDERED, OH MASTER OF BLUBBER."

Robot 75 threw the red echidna in the prison cell. "Knuckles, what are you doing here?" Tails asked.

"I heard there was trouble on South Island so I went to check it out," Knuckles answered. "When I saw a bunch of nasty looking robots, I knew Robotnik was behind this. When I approached the robots' construction site they started firing lasers at me. I beat the crap out of at least ten robots when I was captured and thrown in here. But where the hell am I? Sonic, I thought you killed Robotnik!"

"You're in the Zone of Confusion, Knuckles," Sonic said. "I thought I killed Robuttnik too, but you can never tell with big, fat Eggmen!"

Both Tails and Knuckles chuckled. "How do we get out of here?" Tails asked.

"You don't," Eggman responded. "I've been longing to test my new weapon, the Reducatron 5000. What is it, you ask? When I just aim and pull the trigger it shrinks the target to 1.6% of its actual size. Which means you three pests will be less than an inch tall." Eggman zapped Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles with the Reducatron 5000. When the three shrunk to less than an inch tall, Eggman put them in a small glass jar. He screwed on a lid. The lid had three air holes, but they were too small for Sonic, Tails, or Knuckles to fit through. "Now I own you three. I will do numerous experiments on you and you will live in this jar for the rest of your miserable lives with only rotten vegetables to eat."

"What, no chili dogs?!" Exclaimed Sonic.

"Don't be such a moron, hedgehog," Eggman answered. Dr. Eggman Robotnik put the glass jar in his pocket and watched the monitor to see the progress on his fortress.

"What do we do now?" Knuckles asked?

Sonic did his Triple Spin and tried to bust the glass of the jar open, but he barely made a scratch.

Freddie Rabbit was brought into the Zone of Confusion by one of Eggman's robots. When he and a bunch other confused rabbits were dumped into the Robotisizer, Freddie Rabbit escaped from being turned into a metallic, mindless slave. Freddie picked up a piece of Eggman's scrap metal, slowly crept up behind Eggman and bashed him on the head with the heavy piece of metal. Eggman fell on the floor, unconscious. Freddie, skilled in computers, typed in a code on Eggman's master computer, which gave all the robotisized animals their free will back. Freddie stole an Egg-bomb and set it to go off in ten minutes. Freddie ran through the portal to South Island. Once on South Island he ran towards his hometown, Seaside Park. The other robotisized animals followed him.

Seven minutes later, Dr. Eggman woke up to the sound of "EGG-BOMB WILL EXPLODE IN THREE MINUTES." Eggman knew that if he didn't get out of the Zone of Confusion he would be killed. Eggman ran through the pink, yellow, and blue portal to South Island. He hopped in his Egg-O-Matic flying machine and ordered his robots to follow him. Eggman followed a trail of footprints to Seaside Park. Behind him there was a huge explosion in the Zone of Confusion and the portal was covered up by dirt, rocks, and debris.

When Eggman arrived in Seaside Park, Freddie Rabbit promptly shot his flying machine down. The confused Eggman dropped the glass jar out of his pocked and it fell on the ground. Freddie picked up the glass jar, which contained Sonic, Tails, and Knuckled. Amused, Freddie stared at the jar until Eggman started up the flying machine. Freddie pointed his gun at Eggman and said, "You just get the hell out of here, asshole!"

The confused Eggman did as the rabbit said and flew away into the sky.

Freddie opened the jar and asked, "Where are you guys from?"

"Do you know where Mobotropolis is? Replied Sonic.

"Yes, but I don't have any way to get there and..."

Sonic interrupted, "Go back to South Island and use our red bi-plane."

"Well okay, I don't have anything better to do currently," said Freddie. Freddie flew the "Winged Victory" to Mobotropolis. He parked the plane in the parking lot of the Mobotropolis Apartment Complex.

"Take us to apartment 3C," Sonic said. Apartment 3C was Rotor's apartment.

Freddie knocked on the door. Rotor opened the door. "Can I help you?"

"Take a look inside this jar," replied Freddie.

"Sonic! Tails! Knuckles! Oh my gosh, I have to get you to the lab right away." Rotor carried the shrunken Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles out of his apartment building to his workshop.

"You're welcome," said Freddie. Later that day Freddie Rabbit boarded a plane to Seaside Park from the Mobotropolis International Airport.

Four weeks later, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles woke up inside the glass jar, still shrunken, in Rotor's workshop. Sonic told all the Freedom Fighters their story. That morning, the beautiful Princess Sally entered the workshop. "Sonic, Rotor has a surprise for you!" The princess said.

Rotor gently emptied the three guys out of the jar on the floor. He had just finished building the Enlargatron 5000. Rotor shot the three with the Enlargatron before they even had a chance to say anything.

"Hey, I'm back to my good ol' self," said Sonic.

"Thank you, Rotor," said Knuckles.

"I'm big again," said Tails.

"Sonic," said Sally. "Can you come with me for a minute?" Princess Sally walked Sonic out in front of Rotor's workshop and kissed Sonic the Hedgehog.
